Twin Lakes Fire Department Rescue Squad recently purchased two new Stryker Power Pro cots for use in its 911 response ambulances.
The new equipment assists EMTs in lifting patients into squads. The power aspect of the cot means the EMTs use only 10 percent effort in lifting said Darrel Stoen, EMS Division Chief for the department.
That’s important, Stoen said, because the squad more often has to operate with limited manpower, or more women on duty. The cots can lift 700 pounds and should help reduce back injuries for EMS members.
“If we can get the patient to the cot, we can lift them” with this new equipment, Stoen said.
The cots cost about $15,000 each. The funds were raised from the memorial fund and the annual fund letter.
“We are extremely thankful to those that have donated so generously to our service and made this purchase possible,” Stoen said.
