Representatives of a business in Silver Lake’s Schenning Business Park asked the Village Board Wednesday to consider a sign that would identify who is in the park.

The business park  is located along Highway B on Silver Lake’s north side.

Janet Pope of Pope Precision Auto said her business has been in the park for 16 years.

“In 16 years, I’ve heard many people say they didn’t even know we are there,” Pope said. She suggested a sign be placed at the entrance to the park listing all of the businesses in the park. The current sign identifies the park, but not individual tenants.

“It’s very important to have that information there,” Pope said. Mike Pope said that there were once plans for such a sign, but those plans fizzled.

Trustee Patrick Dunn said erecting such a sign is a goal of community group Silver Lake Citizens for Growth. No member of the group was present at the meeting to confirm or elaborate.

Dunn said he would pass on the Popes’ thoughts to Citizens for Growth members he will likely see later in the week.
