Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Bill Beth issued the following statement regarding the current storm:
Sheriff David Beth has ordered additional deputies called to work in order to help with cars in the ditch and crashes. We do have extra deputies on the road currently, but more are needed in order to meet all of the needs the weather is creating. The dispatch center is so busy, they have not been able to provide a current number of crashes, since it started snowing, but at one moment in time (3:00PM) we were dealing with twenty crashes and cars in the ditch. These events are spread throughout the county, East and West. Residents are encouraged to stay home. Avoid any non-essential travel.
News people should stay off the roads.
