Wheatland School District chooses Karcher principal for next superintendent

wheatland-school-busThe Wheatland School District Board has chosen a new superintendent, it was announced this week.

Martin McGinley, principal at Karcher Middle School in the Burlington Area School District, will succeed Jason Tadlock when Tadlock moves on to a new position in Elkhorn at the end of the current school year.

An announcement of the move was made to current school families in a letter from School Board president Chris Serak. The text of that letter follows:

Dear Wheatland Community:The Wheatland School District is pleased to announce that we have hired Martin McGinley to serve as our next superintendent. Martin was selected from a pool of over 12 highly qualified candidates and he comes highly recommended by his current district, Burlington. Martin brings over fifteen years of exceptional educational experience to the district, and he has had proven success wherever he has served. At the start of the search the Board and the Staff were very concerned with finding a good replacement for Mr. Tadlock. Jason has helped move us forward and no one wanted to stop the momentum. The staff was especially passionate and vocal about finding someone that would keep the District at the forefront of Technology and Innovation that Wheatland has become known for. We actually sought out Mr. McGinley as a possible candidate early on. His reputation in the Burlington community is excellent. He came highly recommended as a potential replacement for Mr. Tadlock. We had nine Staff members in addition to the School Board participate in the interview process. The Candidates prepared presentations for the Interview committee detailing their past experiences as well as their vision for Wheatland. Everyone was extremely impressed with Mr. McGinley. After two interviews we were sure that Martin was exactly what were looking for in a District Administrator. He is a Visionary that is both professional and approachable. As the current principal at Karcher Middle school he has helped establish a growth model using the MAP assessment, he has expanded their use of technology, despite tight budgets, and he has helped elevate the district by implementing many of the same programs that we at Wheatland have also implemented over the past three to five years. Having found such a qualified District Administrator this quickly will ensure a smooth transition process and allow us to keep our long range plans moving forward. We have complete confidence that Martin McGinley has the skills, vision, and leadership to help Wheatland build upon current and past successes as we “SOAR” to new heights. Sincerely, Chris Serak Board President
