The Twin Lakes Village Board approved the purchase of a new electronic community information sign for downtown.

The sign, which will display amber colored text, will replace the current sign that uses a message area with back-lit plastic letters.

The sign will be used to communicate information from the village government.

The board accepted a bid of $11,345.90 from Sass Graphix of Salem for installation of the sign and connection of the electrical service, which was the lowest bid. The bid also includes training of village staff on the software used to program the sign.

Because the accepted bid was below budget, the board authorized village administrator Jennifer Pollitt to research possibilities for repairing or replacing the frame for the sign, parts of which are in disrepair, Pollitt said.
