Seems to me that these numbers would be lower if the roads were actually being plowed. I live on a major county highway and the plow had only come through twice since I got up at 8 AM. I haven’t been out yet today, but from what I can see and what I have been told by friends, the roads are terrible and major roads such as HWY 50 are not much better than the one in front of my house.

If people have complaints about the roads not being plowed – please direct your calls to our fine County Exec. It was his decision to cut way back on overtime for the county employees. As a matter of fact, when employees retired, there have been no new hires! And, considering by law that a person can only drive the plow truck for a certain number of hours before he must stop, there aren’t really enough employees to do the job the way it used to be done. Some of these guys have been working 14 – 18 hour days to try to keep the roads clean. Plus, you cannot blame these accident on the roads – people driving have to learn to SLOW DOWN when there’s bad weather. Quit texting or talking on your cell phone and pay attention to where you are and what the roads under you are like.
To all the men and women working on the municipal as well as county highway departments – THANK YOU!!!!! You have people that ARE satisfied with your work – keep up the good job!!!
