The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory effective from midnight tonight through noon Friday. The combination of single digit temperatures and 15 to 20 mph winds with 30 mph gusts tonight and 10 to 15 mph winds tomorrow will produce wind chills of -15 to -23.
Friday night there also is a 60 percent chance of snow, with less than an inch of accumulation.
Earlier today, the Fox River at New Munster exceeded flood level. At about 9:45 a.m., the river was measured at 10.25 feet (flood stage is 10 feet) and is already on the way down. The current projection calls for the river to be back under flood level early in the morning
