Cold snap in forecast; wind advisory issued

coldman-sxc-Dave-Dyet-webThe temperature is forecast to be warm today — a high of 46. But that is way more pleasant sounding than it likely will be.

Starting tonight the National Weather Service says the area will be in for a bit of cold — really cold considering recent experience — weather.

Tonight the low temp is forecast to be 9 degrees — a 37 degrees drop from the high. There also is a wind advisory in effect from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday. Winds should be 25 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 50 mph.

The next few days after that look like more of the same:

  • Sunday: High 17, low 4.
  • Monday: High 9, low -4.
  • Tuesday: High 8, low 2.

The current forecast calls for the temperatures to begin to moderate on Wednesday with a high almost reaching 30 by Thursday. It will feel like 60 after that cold snap!

UPDATE 4:13 p.m. — High winds now forecast to come a little later. Wind advisory to start at 6 p.m. and in effect until 3 a.m.

UPDATE 9:04 p.m. — Winds of 25 mph with a gust of 37 mph have been recorded at Kenosha Regional Airport.
