Cody Lane, of Troop 328 in Salem, was awarded the highest Scouting honor, Eagle Scout, at his Court of Honor on Saturday, Jan 5, at The Pringle Nature Center. During his Scouting career he earned 49 Merit Badges, held numerous leadership positions and was awarded a number of national awards including 100 Nights of Camping, the 50 Miler, Interpreter Strip for French, to name a few. He logged 120 hiking miles, including a trek to Philmont, and performed over 125 hours over community service. For his project, he built a handicapped-accessible hunting blind for Richard Bong State Recreation Area in Brighton. Working with the DNR, Cody re-designed and improved the building creating easier wheelchair access, additional space for multiple hunters, and improved the foundation to make it easier to move. Cody is the son of Laura and Bob Lane in Brighton.
