The traditional live nativity at Oakvue Farm in Bristol was presented Friday and Saturday evening.
This was the 22nd year for the event, started by the Gillmore family.
People from churches throughout the area portray the various characters in the story, with live animals used as well. There also is a choir that accompanies the play with music and song. Spectators see the scene inside a barn, so the performance goes on regardless of weather.
This year’s attendance was strong, said Ed Gillmore. Saturday night’s first performance had so many people attend that the doors of the barn were opened up so people who could not fit inside the structure could still see. Cars for that performance were still trying to get off the farm as cars were arriving for the last performance, which had ended about 20 minutes before.
There was another new wrinkle for this year. For the first time, the barn was warmed by a propane heater, Gillmore said.
Here is a video of highlights from the last performance followed by some photos by freelance photographer Earlene Frederick:
Thank you
This is always an incredible event. I urge anyone who has never gone to plan to go next year. Thanks to all that have helped in puting it on…..
