A Trevor man died in a car crash today in Salem.
From a statement from Sgt. Bill Beth, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department spokesman:
At 10:48 this morning Kenosha County Deputy Sheriffs responded with Salem Fire and Rescue to a fatal rollover car crash in the 9400 block of Camp Lake Road in the Town of Salem. A green 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Gunnar Ahlstrand (81 years old, Trevor resident) was southbound on Camp Lake Road in the 9400 block. The vehicle left the roadway when it failed to negotiate a slight curve in the road. The vehicle struck a culvert and overturned. Ahlstrand was ejected and severely injured. He was later pronounced dead at St. Catherine’s Hospital. There is no obvious cause of the crash. Speed is not believed to be a factor. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
I was driving home today and saw this. It must’ve just happened, as I had to turn around, as more sherriffs were arriving and blocking the road. My prayers to the family of Mr. Ahlstrand.
So sad to hear about this. When all of us in the neighborhood were kids we used to visit him a lot. He was always super nice.
