At 12:29 p.m., Salem Fire/Rescue and sheriff’s deputies are responding to a report of a telephone/utility pole on fire in the 22600 block of Highway K, along the Salem-Brighton border.
The pole is on the north side of the road. It is about 30 feet away from any structure, dispatch says.
UPDATE about 12:38 p.m. — Deputy reports pole is about half on fire.
UPDATE 12:41 p.m. — Fire personnel asks for We Energies response and says the line is an underground up feed line that may be energized.
UPDATE 1:01 p.m. — We Energies on the scene.
