Units responding to crash on Highway 83 in Salem

At about 3:25 p.m., Salem Fire/Rescue and sheriff’s deputies are responding to a report of a crash at Highway 83 and 112th Street in Salem.

Crash involves a motorcycle and an SUV, dispatch reports. Motorcycle apparently rear-ended the SUV. Motorcyclist may be stuck in rear window of SUV.

UPDATE 3:28 p.m. — Deputies shutting down traffic on Highway 83 southbound at Highway C and northbound somewhere south of the scene.

UPDATE 3:32 p.m. — Salem Fire/Rescue setting up landing zone for Flight for Life medical transport helicopter.

UPDATE 10/22/12 — From a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department report: The driver of the SUV signaled, slowed and then stopped on southbound Highway 83 to make a left turn on 112th Street, the entrance to the Arboretum Woods subdivision. The motorcyclist failed to stop and struck the vehicle. The report indicates that the motorcyclist, a 44-year-old Antioch man, was transported from the scene for medical treatment. No citations were issued to either driver. No update on the motorcyclist’s medical condition was available.
