Twin Lakes to borrow to build parking lot downtown

The Twin Lakes Village Board approved a contract with BR Amon to build a municipal parking lot on the east end of Lake Avenue.

The single bid for the project is $29,760 and will be funded through capital borrowing.

The lot is located just south of the Corner Kitchen Restaurant and extends back to the Ice Age Trail.

During discussion, Trustee Kevin Fitzpatrick questioned the move.

“Do we really need to borrow for something like that?” Fitzpatrick asked.

Village President Howard Skinner replied that he did not know of any other way.

Borrowing for the lot paving was approved unanimously. The board was meeting in a special board meeting before the regularly scheduled committee of the whole meeting.

Also at the meeting, the board also unanimously approved an application for a State Trust Fund loan for capital borrowing for $300,000. Most of that money is for developer assistance that will go to Mills Development, which is building a senior housing and commercial building in the downtown tax incremental financing district.
