Randall Town Hall in Bassett is in for some spiffing up after action by the Town Board Thursday.

The board approved bids for a new roof and painting the interior of the building.

The roofing work was award to Melka’s Roofing for$9,340. That was the lowest of three bids. The other two bids were over $12,000.

The owner of Melka’s Roofing is a town resident, Charlie Gitzinger, the town’s plan commission chairman and municipal judge, said.

The painting work was awarded to Daniels Painting for $1,075, the only bid considered by the board. Most of the interior of the building will be painted white, while the office area will be painted a shade of green. The town will ask the contractor to also paint the floors in the bathrooms, which were not included in the bid.

The awarding of both bids was approved unanimously, with Supervisor Mike Halvorson absent.
