Wilmot UHS football roundup week 1

The Wilmot High School football team began the season Friday night with a non-conference loss, 27-7, at Notre Dame College Prep school in Niles, IL. ND is a private school with about 1600 students, and is a member of the powerful East Suburban Catholic Conference.

Bennett Kothe provided the score for Wilmot early in the 4th quarter with a TD run of 55 yards.

Wilmot opens the conference schedule at home v. Waterford on Friday, August 31 7pm at Frank Bucci Field in Wilmot.

JV Results —  The Wilmot JV team opened their season on Saturday at Bucci Field with a non-conference loss to Notre Dame Prep 35-0. Wilmot moved the ball on the ground and through the air early in the game but missed a great opportunity to grab an early lead in the 1st quarter when they were stopped inside the ND 2 yard line. ND quickly struck with a 95 yd TD pass, and hit 2 more long bombs to grab a 21-0 lead at halftime. The JV opens conference play at Waterford on Thursday, August 30 at 6:15 pm.

Freshman scrimmage — The Wilmot Freshman divided into 2 teams for scrimmages on Saturday. One team played Notre Prep at Bucci Field while the other group traveled to Kenosha to play Bradford. The Freshman team opens their season on Thursday August 30 at Waterford at 4:30.
