Lake trash pick-up set for Twin Lakes on Sept. 8

Volunteers are being sought for a trash pick-up day along the shorelines of lakes Mary and Elizabeth in Twin Lakes on Sept. 8 starting at 8 a.m.

Participants will kayak, canoe, row, swim and walk the entire shoreline and shallow areas of both lakes to pick-up any trash left over from the summer season.

The event, being organized by Rhett Suhre, will begin at Lance Park with coffee, donuts  and a short presentation by the Boy Scouts on the impact of water pollution. Participants will then be divided into teams based on number of participants and work their way to the public boat launch on the south east side of Lake Elizabeth where there will be food and drink specials for  the participants.

Volunteers are asked to bring their own mode of transportation, personal floatation device and reusable coffee/water/beverage containers.

Those interested in participating are asked to RSVP with questions/donations and number of attendees to Rhett.Suhre@yahoo.com to 716-1418.

Sept. 9 will be the rain date with the same schedule.
