Municipalities throughout Kenosha County have lifted their ban on open burning, Pleasant Prairie Fire Chief Doug J. McElmury announced today on behalf of the Kenosha County Chiefs and Captains Association.
Conditions still call for extreme caution while burning, McElmury said in his statement.
People burning must comply with local municipal ordinances regarding open burning, McElmury said. Requirements for open burning vary by community so contact your local fire department for details.
The City of Kenosha does not allow open burning; charcoal and gas grills are permitted.
Salem Fire/Rescue, Town of Wheatland Fire Department, Silver Lake Fire Department, Randall Fire Department and Twin Lakes Fire Department had announced the cancellation of their bans Friday.
