The open burning ban in areas under the jurisdiction of Salem Fire/Rescue has been lifted as of today, fire Chief David Slover has announced.
Recent rain was sufficient to alleviate the dry and hazardous conditions that prompted the ban, Slover said in a press release.
Salem, Paddock Lake and Brighton are served by Salem/Fire Rescue.
Salem town Clerk Cindi Ernest reminded Salem residents that according to Salem Town Code of Ordinance, a burn permit from the Fire Department is required for any fire larger than 1 cubic yard. Only yard waste may be burned and burning is allowed between sunrise and sunset. Town of Salem residents with questions regarding the burn ban are urged to contact the Town of Salem Fire Department at (262) 298-5630.
