The Progress Days fireworks that were postponed due to dry weather earlier this month will take place instead on Sept. 15, officials with the community festival have announced.

The committee is planning a two-day celebration on Sept. 14 and 15. This event will be at the same location as Progress Days, Hansen Park on Highway 45.

“We are liking the idea of Harvest Fest and this may end up being an annual event,” said Keith Plants, who organizes the various Progress Days tournaments, in an email. If held in future years, however, the fall festival will not include fireworks, which will return to Progress Days next year, weather willing.

Planned for the September dates are many tournaments including: mens fastpitch softball, volleyball, kickball and baggo. All tournaments will be on Saturday except for mens fastpitch, which will start Friday night and end Sunday afternoon, Plants said.

The fireworks will go off on Saturday, Sept. 15 at dusk. There will also be live entertainment on Saturday, with details to be announced. Committee plans also call for vendors  as well to sell food and beverages.
