The Silver Lake Citizens for Growth’s member, Dennis Rodefer, is holding a Children’s Fishing Workshop on Friday, July 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Silver Lake’s Village Hall. This workshop is open to children (boys and girls) ages 5-15. Children ages 5-10 must be accompanied by a parent.

The workshop will include the following:

  • A tackle box donated by JR’s Jigs
  • Learning how to tie knots.
  • Different rigs for different conditions/fish.
  • Fish Identification.
  • Fishing Rules.
  • Respecting the outdoors

Rodefer is also working with the DNR to get card sets that show how to tie knots, identify/give info on different species of fish (the species that we have in Silver Lake), fishing regulations, and other training material. JR Jigs will speak about panfish and crappies.  Rodefer will speak about walleye, salmon and trout. Another speaker to speak about bass.

There were be fishing related door prizes.

On Saturday, July 7  from 7 a.m. to noon, Rodefer and the folks from JR Jigs will take the group shore fishing in Silver Lake. This gives everyone time to fish and still make the fun in Schmalfeldt Park for the Citizens for Growth events during the Fireman’s Festival.

For more information, or to register call Dennis at 889-4500.
