4-year-old boy drowns in Bristol

A 4-year-old boy drowned in a pool in Bristol today, a sheriff’s department spokesman said.

Here is a department statement  issued at about 4:12 p.m. today on the incident, which occurred in the 11700 block of 187th Avenue in Bristol:

On 06-26-12 at 1149 hours deputies responded with … Bristol Rescue Squad Staff to a report of 4 year old boy found without life signs in a pool. The child had been inside the home with another sibling. The child’s mother had her 8 year old watch the 4 year old for a few minutes while she was busy, later finding the boy in the pool when looking for him. The mother began CPR while rescue was en- route. Deputies and Bristol Rescue staff performed CPR for approximately 30 minutes on their arrival and were unable to revive the boy. Sheriff’s Department detectives and the Medical Examine are on scene. The case is open and investigation on-going. No other information is being released at this time.

    It’s impossible to fathom such a tragedy. As a father to three, my prayers and sympathy go to the family. It makes me so thankful for everyday I wake up breathing and have time to spend with loved ones.
