Anne Woodward’s third grade class at Salem School presented a play to an audience of students, staff, and parents on May 17 and 18, called the Mystery of the Gumdrop Dragon.
In the play, The Kingdom of Candyland is saddened by the disappearance of Princess Sugar Plum’s beloved Gumdrop Dragon. A proclamation is sent throughout the land offering a reward for the return of her pet and the villain who stole it away. Although the clowns and the Chocolate Wizard are unable to cheer the princess, the news that her dragon has been found brings her joy. The handsome Prince Peppermint Stick has rescued the dragon from Sir Sourball. Poor Sir Sourball only stole the dragon so he could be happy, but his plan backfired. Princess Sugar Plum assures Sir Sourball that they are all his friends making him very happy indeed. Prince Peppermint Stick asks the princess for her hand in marriage as his reward, and they all live happily ever after.
