Silver Lake Citizens for Growth to repaint signs

Silver Lake Citizens for Growth has received Village Board permission to repaint signs at village parks like this one blue with white letters.

Silver Lake Citizens for Growth received permission from the Village Board to repaint all wood park signs and welcome signs in the village.

Representatives of the group explained the project at Wednesday’s Village Board meeting. They are proposing to paint the signs blue with white letters to freshen them up and make them more readable. The group may also add some nautical themed touches — such as ropes or anchors — to the signage at DeWitt Park, which includes a beach and swimming area on the lake.

There was some discussion among Village Board members about the shade of blue to be used on the signs, with trustee wanting a brighter hue than was originally proposed by the group.

Trustee Sue Gerber was assigned to work with the group to coordinate the project.

Gerber also reported that the village has new rails to repair the DeWitt Park fencing, but is having trouble finding time to do the work.
