Wheatland FD receives OK for shed and carnival items

The Town of Wheatland Fire Department received approval at Monday’s Town Baord meeting for a storage shed at the firehouse and several items related to its annual festival.

The board approved the placement of an 8 foot by 10 foot building on the east side of the fire station in New Munster. Capt. Paul DeLuisa, representing the department, said the shed will be used for storage.

“We’re just going to do some house cleaning — odds and ends,” DeLuisa said.

The shed placement was approved unanimously.

The fire department also requested and received approval for the following items related to the annual carnival June 22 to 24 at New Munster Park:

  • Special class B fermented malt beverage license.
  • Temporary alcoholic beverage operator licenses for above.
  • Closing Geneva Road (Old Highway 50) in New Munster for a parade on June 23 from 12:45 p.m. until finished. Road closure will be from 351st Avenue to 341st Avenue. DeLuisa said the start time of the parade was moved to a later time than earlier stated.

All of the carnival requests were approved unanimously.
