Why are people who are doing conttrolled grass burns, whether they be the DNR or private property owners, not required to notify the local fire departments prior to or at the start of the burn? Since they don’t seem to be required to get a permit they should at least be required to notify the local departments. I would hate to hear about someone getting hurt responding to a call like this. It has happened before. Seems like there ought to be a ticket issued for this. We in the townships are restricted when burning on private proprty to an area of 3′ X 3′.
