Imagine Kenosha car show and concert picnic permit approved

A permit for selling beer and wine coolers at a car show and concert being organized by Imagine Kenosha as a showcase of local businesses and organizations was approved by the Bristol Village Board at a special meeting Monday.

Last week the permit hit a snag when some trustees said they did not have enough information about the event, that Imagine Kenosha had outstanding bills with the village and over concerns that the June 24 event’s proximity to the annual Progress Days three-day festival in mid July.

Those concerns appeared to have been ironed out as the permit was approved unanimously.

Imagine Kenosha’s past due water and sewer bill has been brought current and village administrator Randy Kerkman said all other requirements were met. Imagine Kenosha executive director Tracy Musgrove said the required insurance rider will be provided.

Apparently the earlier concern about an event before Progress Days competing with Progress Days was also eased for trustees.

“I think it’s a great thing to have more than one event in Bristol, ” said Trustee John McCabe. “I’d like to see more events like this.”

Trustee Bill Gembocki said he would prefer to see a greater spread between the two events in the future, something the organizers seemed amenable to.

“If we did not already have some things in place we would have moved it immediately,” said Lisa Petges, who is helping Imagine Kenosha with organizing the event.

Trustee Ruth Atwood, who criticized the event’s organizers last week for being unorganized praised the follow-up information supplied to the board.

“I wish it would have been here the other night,” Atwood said.

The event is described as a car show and classic rock concert to take place from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 25. Representatives of various non profit and community groups will also be participating as food vendors or with information booths.  Musgrove and Petges said they wanted the event to be family oriented and provide a forum to raise awareness of the organizations participating.
