Twin Lakes OKs watermilfoil treatment

The Twin Lakes Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District Board of Commissioners on Monday approved a contract for the treatment of watermilfoil in the lakes this year.

The contract with Marine Biochemists of Germantown will cost no more than $6,000. It was approved unanimousily. The commission is made up of the same individuals as the Village Board.

“They’ve done a great job for us,” said Tony Mignon, chairman for the lake district steering committee.

Mignon said the goal will be to get the treatment done by early May, given this year’s early warmer weather.

Also added to this year’s areas for treatment will be near the Lake Elizabeth launch. Mignon said last season he noticed more milfoil growth than in the past.

“It’s something we’re going to have to watch,” Mignon said.
