Major lane reductions are taking place on I-94 between Highway 50 and Highway 158 as part of the ongoing I-94 North-South Freeway Reconstruction Project.
Until late 2012, I-94 will be restricted to two lanes in each direction between Highways 50 and 158 as the southbound roadway is reconstructed and widened. Speed limits will be reduced and all traffic will be crossed over to the northbound side of I-94.
In addition the Highway 50 entrance ramp to I-94 southbound and the I-94 southbound exit ramp to Highway 158 will also be closed until summer 2012, starting this week.
The Highway 158 entrance ramp to I-94 southbound will be closed Saturday, March 31 and Sunday, April 1.
Bristol Fire Chief Peter Parker said his department has worked out a mutual response agreement with Kenosha for the stretch of interstate, which will likely be more difficult for emergency vehicles to access during the road work.
