westofthei.com would like to wish a slightly belated birthday to the village of Twin Lakes.
The village was officially incorporated on March 25, 1937.
So far, there is no official celebration of the anniversary planned, village President Howard Skinner said at last week’s Village Board meeting. However, he said he has talked with representatives of the Twin Lakes Area Chamber and Business Association about incorporating the landmark date in some way into this year’s Libertyfest or other community events.
In a light-hearted moment at the meeting, Trustee Aaron Karow pointed out that Skinner, who is in the middle of his fourth two-year term, has been village president for almost 10 percent of the village’s existence.
“That’s frightening,” Skinner replied.
