Power outages reported; Salem School staying in session, Central HS releasing early

I shoot this photo of three We Energies Trucks at the Kenosha County Center around 12:35p.m., just as it appeared they wrapped some work, perhaps related to the Paddock Lake-Salem area outages today.

At about 10:35 a.m., we are getting reports of power outages in the central part of the West of the I area.

We  Energies outage information is showing outages in Paddock Lake, the Hooker Lake area, along Highway 50 to Highway B and in Silver Lake. About 3,500 customers may be effected, it appears. Watch out for intersections where traffic signals may not be working.

Our cable is out in Paddock Lake as well.

UPDATE 11:06 a.m. — Our cable back here in Paddock Lake. Have a report of an outage in Brighton too.

UPDATE 11:17 a.m. — Traffic signals out at Highways 50 and B, Highway 83 and AH and Brass Ball Corners (Highway 83/75 and Highway 50). Latest numbers for customers effected is 4,490 from We Energies.

UPDATE 11:28 a.m. — Our tipster in Brighton says power back on there.

UPDATE 11:41 a.m. — Power is out at Salem School according to an automated call just received. District administrator David Milz said in the call that generators at the school are working fine and that “teaching and learning will continue as planned.” Parents are asked to not pick-up children due to the outage, which they expect to be resolved soon. General fire alarm went off at Trevor-Wilmot School, but it is believed to be related to a power outage there.

UPDATE 11:44 a.m. — Automated call from Central High School principal Lisa Albrecht says students there will be released due to the power outage. Buses will be brought to the school and students are to g home the way they normally would have today.

UPDATE about 12:35 p.m. — Power around Paddock Lake appears to be restored from a drive through town.

Central High School is in a holding pattern. We are being released from school in 10 minutes if the power is still out!

Nice job Dr. Milz. It seems Salem School is ready for the occasional power problem. Well done!
