Central, Michelau slams blackhawks

After a postponement due to the snowstorm on Friday the Falcons visited the Blackhawks on Saturday. Central jumped out to a 17-9 after the first quarter on the strength of tough defense and strong shooting. Mike Michelau had a hot hand hitting a deep 3 and breakaway dunk and a halfcourt shot to end the quarter.

UPDATE — The half ended with Central holding a lead of 26-19. Michelau kept his hot shooting going with another 3 pointer and ended up with 15 in the half. But the Falcons had 5 bad possessions in a row and never really got untracked. The Blackhawks leading scorer Tanner Boos got started in the stanza with 5 points on a 3 and a bucket.

UPDATE — The third quarter was scorless until a layup by Boos and made a free throw at 5:19 in the quarter. Central called a timeout to set up on offense which was fruitless after another turnover. Central got two layups from Dalton Sjong and Michelau to lead by 6. Central picked up their defense and saw more Blackhawks turnovers. At 2 minutes left Michelau hit a driving floater was fouled and made the free throw. The next possession Jason Castona hit a layup to move to an 11 point lead. They extended it to 41 – 26 at the quarter on 2 free throws by Sjong and a layup by Michelau.

UPDATE — The 3rd quarter saw the Blackhawks trim the lead at 26 -24. Central then went on a 21 -2 streak. Central kept pushing the pace and extended their lead throughout the quarter and ended the game winning 65 – 40.  Fort was led by Boos with 11 Bakken had 9. Central was led by Michelau with 30 Sjong 12 and Castona with 10.
