At about 5:15 p.m., deputies are responding for a report of a crash involving a semi-tractor trailer and perhaps as many as four vehicles in the 29900 block of Highway 50, Salem.

UPDATE 5:19 p.m. — Deputy on scene reports semi is jack-knifed and blocking both westbound lanes. Silver Lake Fire and Rescue and Salem Fire/Rescue have been dispatched to scene.

UPDATE 5:21 p.m. — Salem fire base reports that medical unit will be coming from Trevor Station. One person reporting neck pain.

UPDATE 5:24 p.m. — Deputy reports that roadway is “completely iced” and difficult to even walk on.

UPDATE 5:28 p.m. — Deputy reports that one person, who is not reporting injuries, will need to be freed from vehicle, probably by cutting a door.

UPDATE 5:43 p.m. — Deputy reports that semi trailer is empty.

UPDATE 7:16 p.m. — Crews still working on removing semi, deputy reports to dispatch.

UPDATE 7:46 p.m. — Tow preparing to bring semi eastbound down westbound lanes to where traffic is cut off and then move over to eastbound lanes. Deputy reports after that road will open, but a lot of snow drifting has taken place because plows have not been on the lanes since the crash.
