Why dont you post EMS POLICE FIRE calls when you have ALL the information not when you hear it come over the scanner you Moron! Thats somebody’s Family member have some courtesy!
I feel our practice is sound and defensible. We don’t identify anyone in these posts based on scanner info so I don’t feel we are being insensitive. We may use names under certain circumstances if we follow-up with info from a police report or official press release. Meanwhile we are letting people know in general what is happening in close to real time. Perhaps some will then avoid an accident scene.
As Hillock states, Names have not been used in the past and I doubt they will be in the future.
I want to know if there is an accident that I can avoid.
There has been no intrusion in the past and I dont think there will be in the future.
Sometimes facts hurt. When things happen around us, there is no reason that it cannot be reported upon. If Jackson’s family member was involved and it turns out to be a bad thing for which they are embarrassed, then hiding it at this early state will not make it better later.
Name calling is insensative, rude and overall disrespectful to the writers and readers alike.
