A 2:04 p.m., fire department units and sheriff’s deputies are responding to a report of black smoke coming from a wooded area west of Highway 45 along Highway 142.
UPDATE 2:15 p.m. — Fire now believed to be a car on fire in woods.
UPDATE 2:18 p.m. — Deputy confirms that fire is in the shell of a PT Cruiser. Advises fire department to bring a grass rig or ATV.
UPDATE 2:30 p.m. — Scene is in the 22000 block of Highway 142 on the south side of the road.
UPDATE 2:36 p.m. — Fire is out. Kansasville Fire Department also on scene along with Salem Fire/Rescue.
UPDATE 2:45 p.m. — Deputy having trouble reading license plate number because it’s “a little melted.”
