Central boys basketball defeats Port Washington

The Central boys traveled to Port Washington Tuesday night to start the 2012 portion of their schedule. The Falcons started off with a good start to the New Year, jumping out to an early lead that they never relinquished. The Pirates had a difficult time stopping the strong inside play of seniors Dalton Sjong, game high 21 points, and outside attacks from Jason Castona and Mike Michelau, each chipped in with 11 points. When they weren’t doing the scoring Sam Cavener hit shots from close to keep the Pirates at bay. Central took advantage of Sjong’s strength down low when they needed a score, especially off sideline out of bounds lobs, that they could not stop. Central moves to 5-6 on the season and travels to Shoreland Thursday in a battle with the scrappy Pacers who are undefeated at 6-0.

Wilmot girls continues to impress, what a coaching change can do for a program. No slight in not mentioning this game, I was at the Central game only.
