A crash last Friday at Highways 50 and P in Wheatland in which a Twin Lakes woman died resulted in no traffic citations, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman confirmed today.
Therese Schmidt, 80, of Twin Lakes, died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.
The crash occurred at about 5 p.m., Friday. According to a Sheriff’s Department report, Schmidt was a passenger in an eastbound car on Highway 50 making a left turn at the Highway P intersection. A westbound vehicle on Highway 50 collided with the car Schmidt was riding in. The traffic signal at the intersection was showing yellow for traffic on Highway 50.
The driver of Schmidt’s car was transported from the scene to a hospital for medical attention. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
