Members of the Twin Lakes Police Department and Twin Lakes Fire and Rescue took 30 children — 15 from Lakewood School and 15 from Randall School — to Walmart in Lake Geneva for a $150 Christmas spending spree as part of the annual “Shop with a Hero” program on Saturday, Dec. 17.

The children who participated were chosen by school officials.

This year, the program was coordinated by Police Officer Kevin Saunders, with assistance from Dispatchers Perry Gregory and Erin Okayama.

Each child got to spend personal time with a Hero to assist in the shopping; many community residents volunteered to help wrap the presents and the parents were treated to hot and cold beverages at McDonald’s as their child shopped.
