Twin Lakes garbage collection services will remain with Veolia, it’s current contractor, after action taken by the Village Board at a special meeting Monday.
The board voted unanimousily to accept a proposed five-year contract with Veolia. Trustees Aaron Karow and Jeremy Knoll were absent (Knoll, a Twin Lakes firefighter, was on a mutual aid call out of town).
Village administrator David Cox said all present services will be retained in the new contract. There will be a $40 charge for picking up appliances that include Freon.
The price in the new contract should mean about a $7 per household per year savings, Cox said.
Another new provision in the contract will be semi-annual bulk drop-off opportunities for electronics. Using the drop-off opportunity will allow residents to avoid a fee for curbside pick-up of electronics in the current and newly approved contracts.
