Salem proposed budget will have 0 percent levy increase

Acting on direction received earlier from the Town Board, Salem’s proposed 2012 budget will reflect a 0 percent tax levy increase, town administrator Patrick Casey said Monday at the regular Town Board meeting.

“I can confidently say we will have a zero percent increase in the levy,” Casey said.

However, Casey said there were a few items to discuss with the board in an executive session later Monday night.

The public will get its chance to comment on the budget and then vote on the levy at the annual budget hearing and special electors meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 16 starting at 7 p.m.
