Units responding to crash on Highway KD

At about 9:10 p.m., Town of Wheatland Fire Department and Twin Lakes Rescue along with sheriff’s deputies are responding to a repor tof a crash at Highway KD and Geneva Road (Old Highway 50), New Munster.

Dispatch reports that the crash is along Highway KD between Geneva Road and Highway 50 and involves a single car in the ditch. One person may be injured.

UPDATE from accident report. — A vehicle heading northbound on Highway KD had stopped at Geneva Road. A vehicle behind that vehicle did not stop and crashed into the rear of the first vehicle. The stopped vehicle was pushed through the intersection into the ditch on the north side of Geneva Road west of Highway KD. The second vehicle drove into the ditch east of Highway KD north of Geneva Road. The driver of the vehicle that did not stop at the intersection was Jon Dawley, 47, of Burlington. He received six citations, including operating while intoxicated, no seatbelt, failing to stop at a stop sign, inattentive driving  and causing injury while operating while intoxicated. Everyone involved in the crash was transported for possible injuries. Updated information on their conditions was not available.

    I saw the accident there were 2 cars in the ditch one on each side

    Sarah, really? Only saw one car. Where was the other one? And do you know what happened?

    She’s right, two cars one on each side. I live right there. Surprised there aren’t more accidents. Drivers rarely or barely stop at that intersection.

    Im trying to find out happened to drive by it on my way home didn’t look good

    im not sure what happened i drove by on my way home and saw 2 cars in the ditch would love to know what happened since where they were made little sense
