Are you alocal business that wants to ban weapons from their premises under the new provisions of state law?
If so, the Sheriff’s Department has issued the following press release that may be of interest to you:
Sheriff David Beth has received many questions from Kenosha County Businesses regarding proper posting to ban weapons from their business, in compliance with Wisconsin’s new concealed carry law. Sheriff Beth had “No Weapons Allowed†signs made up which are available to Kenosha County businesses. The signs available are not the only signs allowed by law, however, if most businesses use these signs they will provide some uniformity throughout Kenosha County. Sheriff Beth said, “If every business has the same sign in their window, asking patrons not to carry concealed weapons in their building, it should be easy to understand and recognize.†“No Weapons Allowed†signs are available at the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department inside the Public Safety Building, 1000 55th St., Kenosha and at the elected officials’ window at the Kenosha County Center, 19600 75th St., Bristol. Business owners who would like to have a sign simply need to provide a business card. A record of who receives signs will be kept. Signs can also be downloaded from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department website. Click on the “Printable Concealed Carry Prohibited Signs†button in the “Important Links†section.
Do we really believe that a perp will not use a weapon or firearm to rob a business that posts a “No weapons or guns allowed” signs on their doors?
I can just hear the conversation now. “Hey Ralph, we cannot rob that place using our guns, they don’t allow guns inside.”
I certainly would hope that educated people understand this. If not then the country is in real trouble cognitively. Thank you.
