The annual Paddock Lake Pet Parade took place today.
About 25 dogs — and one cat — participated. The paraders stepped off from Hoag Park a little after 10 a.m. and made their way to Village Hall.
The Sheriff’s Department canine unit was expected to lead the parade and conduct a demonstration at Village Hall afterwards, but was detained for some police work this morning, said village Trustee Karen Harris, who organizes the event.
At Village Hall the pets were able to socialize and the owners received door prizes with a pet theme. Winners among the pets were selected in such categories as youngest, oldest largest animal as well as best costume. There also were refreshments for the people and water for the dogs.
