Joshua Cooper was sworn in as the new detective for the Twin Lakes Police Department at a ceremony at Village Hall Monday just before a Village Board meeting.
Detective Cooper was sworn in by Dave Cox, village administrator, with family members, Village Board members, members of the Police Commission, and other current Twin Lakes Police officers in attendance.
Cooper fills the vacancy that was held by Detective Sgt. Dennis Linn, who was promoted to lieutenant in 2010.
The selection was a grueling five-month process, consisting of a written test, day-long practical, Assessment Center exercises and two oral interviews, said Chief Dale Racer. Officer Cooper finished number one out of the four candidates for the position.
Cooper has been with the Twin Lakes Police Department since 2008. He has served in law enforcement since 1999 with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department, Butler (Wis.) Police Department, Town of Salem Public Safety Department and the Silver Lake Police Department.
Cooper’s wife, Sonya, pinned her husband’s detective badge on his uniform during the ceremony.
