Did you hear a loud sound — maybe like an explosion — about midnight Sunday morning?
Some Salem and Silver Lake residents did. At least one reported the sound to 9-1-1.
Salem Fire/Rescue Chief David Slover reports that an engine from his department and a Silver Lake Rescue Squad unit did respond to the Shorewood area to investigate. The caller stated no fire or smoke was seen just that the boom she heard concerned her. The engine from the Trevor station and ambulance did not find anything and there were no further phone calls to 9-1-1.
At the same time, Salem was transporting a patient to the hospital with lights and sirens on “so for awhile there it might have seemed there was a lot of emergency apparatus responding from all over,” Slover said.
