Old Settlers Oktoberfest 2011 took place Saturday with a wealth of German flavored and other activities.

The event was held at Old Settlers Park under the guidance of Kenosha County parks, Westosha-Salem Kiwanis Club and Kenosha County parks.

Among the activities were German food, German music, dancing, a car show, pumpkin painting, German style hair-braiding and hammerschlagen, a hammer and nail game.

A highlight of the afternoon festivities were the dachshund dog races. Here’s some video of the races from freelance photographer Earlene Frederick:

After sundown, attendees were treated to a fire works display sponsored by Fisher Investment Group, Reliable Heating and Air Conditioning, Heidi’s Bakery, Community State Bank, Subway of Paddock Lake, Matt Nolan-Nolan Enterprises, Westosha-Salem Kiwanis Club, Baxter Woodman Consulting Engineers, Tom Paddock State Farm and Harris Pet Hospital.
