Paddock Lake approves attachment of car dealership property to village

The Paddock Lake Village Board approved the attachment of a five-acre site owned by a local car dealership into the village this week.

The parcel is the site of Hartnell Chevrolet. Until this week, the property was within the municipal boundaries of Salem.

The change is termed an attachment rather than an annexation because it was within an area agreed to eventually come into the village in a boundary agreement between the town and village approved in 2005, village administrator Tim Popanda said.

The timing of the move, initiated by the dealership, likely relates to improvements planned for the site that will be before the Paddock Lake Plan Commission next month, Popanda said.

Hartnell is located about a quarter mile south of Highway 50 on Highway 83.
