The Central Falcons hosted Lake Geneva Badgers Saturday in Paddock Lake on a warm sunny Parents Day at Falcon Stadium. The younger, smaller Falcons put up a great effort against the Badgers, but lost 42-21.
The Falcons used two big plays in the first half to tie the score at 14, with Aaron Fincher being a part of both plays. After Badger opened the scoring 7-0, on the ensuing kickoff, Fincher broke through an opening his teammates created and was off to an 88-yard score, highlighted by a great move to elude the kicker to score. Badger scored again, only to have the game Falcons scratch out another score just before the half. Tyler Stoxen found Fincher open on a circle route and he took the ball to the 13 yard line. On the next play, Stoxen found Jason Castona inside the Badger defense for a score as time ran out in the half. Tyler Schoenke’s point after tied the score at 14.
In the third quarter, the Badgers utilized a no huddle offense to wear down the Falcon defense and scored on a TD run by QB Peter Krein. They extended their lead to 28-14 when still in the no huddle, Badger FB Rory Klean scored from the 2 yard line with just under 3 minutes to play in the quarter. The Falcons got on the board in the second half when Stoxen found an open receiver in Damiyan Trevino and he carried a Badger defender with him into the end zone, to reduce the deficit to 7, at 28-21.
After a long Badger drive, Luke Millhouse made an acrobatic interception at the Falcon 4. The Falcons could not move the ball, and with a desperation 4th and long had an incomplete pass to turn the ball over on downs at their own 1. The next play Badgers Chris Walker scored a TD and moved the lead to the final 42-21.
The Badgers were led in rushing by Krien on 18 rushes for 146 yards, with Klean having 20 rushes for 120 yards. Both backs had 2 TD’s. Badger had 369 yards in total offense, with 345 on the ground.
The Falcons had 198 yards on offense with Stoxen finishing 7-19 for 114 yards in the air with 2 TDs, with the Falcons rushing for 84 yards.
Both kickers Carr for Badger and Schoenke were perfect on the day.
