A change in village assessor approved by the Silver Lake Village Board last month will have to wait a little longer to take effect.
Village President Jeff Albrecht reported that the village’s contract with current assessor Associated Appraisals was effective through Dec. 31. To avoid an about $7,000 penalty fee he suggested the village stay with Associated through the end of the year. The contract with the new appraiser — Accurate Appraisal — could then start Jan. 1.
A motion to stay with Associated through the end of the year passed unanimously.
According to minutes of the July 20 Village Board meeting, Associated’s charge for 2012 would have been $9,800 while Accurate will charge $9,500.
