Units responding to car vs. tree crash

At 5:12 p.m., Salem Fire/Rescue and sheriff’s deputies are responding to a report of a one-vehicle crash in the 23000 block of Highway K (60th Street), Salem.

Dispatch reports via scanner that vehicle struck a tree and sole female occupant is trapped inside, though she is conscious and breathing.

UPDATE 5:21 p.m. — Flight for Life medical transport helicopter responding.

UPDATE 5:24 p.m. — Patient removed from vehicle, Salem command reports to dispatch.

UPDATE 5:27 p.m. — Helicopter to pick-up patient at St. Catherine’s Hospital instead of nearby landing zone.

UPDATE 5:30 p.m. — Helicopter estimated time of arrival is 30 minutes. Patient complaining of internal pain, Salem command reports.

UPDATE 5:37 p.m. — Patient being transported by ambulance to hospital helipad.

UPDATE 5:53 p.m. — All Salem units clear of scene.
